MEET DR. KENNEDY
Education/Training
Dr. Kennedy received graduate training in psychology in the Dallas, Texas area. She earned a Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a PhD from the University of North Texas. During this time, she worked as a psychological and research associate in the depression clinical research center at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.



Dr. Kennedy then moved to San Antonio and completed an internship in clinical psychology at the South Texas VA Healthcare System.


She went on to complete a VA fellowship in neuropsychology and neuroimaging.



Career
After training, Dr. Kennedy obtained a position as a research scientist and neuropsychologist at Brooke Army Medical Center in the TBI Center of Excellence (formerly Defense and Veteran's Brain Injury Center). In this position, her clients included active-duty service members, veterans and their adult dependents with brain injuries. She worked with service members returning from deployment that had received blast injuries, amputations and burn injuries. PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders were common among her clients. Chronic medical conditions such as hypertension and diabetes were frequent among older veterans and family members.






For several years, Dr. Kennedy also ran a part-time private practice providing therapy for older adults and Veterans in assisted living and healthcare facilities. Her broad experience across age groups and backgrounds highlights her commitment to compassionate, expert care.




PERSONAL LIFE
Dr. Kennedy is married with five adult children and ten grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, coloring/painting, listening to music, streaming shows and movies, online games and puzzles, swimming and boating. She loves animals, nature and travel. Some of her best memories are from cruises she took to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and the South Pacific.
